The Countess in Dubai…Part Two

Today I write having ‘endured’ a rather busy day of shopping. This comes after complaining that I had brought too much luggage; Lets just say I shall be going back with even more. The Dubai Mall is an experience like no other, the World’s largest Mall, it is a marvel and I could not resist the opportunity to spend the day indulging in one of my favourite hobbies..retail therapy. It is difficult to explain just how huge the Dubai Mall is, so instead I will provide you with the facts. It is 5,400,00 sq ft, has 1,200 shops, an ice rink and gigantic aquarium. I will be honest and admit that I did not even see the ice rink or aquarium today, it was fashion that was on my agenda and fashion is what was delivered.

Fashion Avenue in the Dubai Mall is perfect for Ladies who love labels. It is the VIP area of the Mall (although you do not have to be a VIP to enter) and the difference is obvious. In this section, the floors are bathed in plush cream carpets, chesterfield seating adorns the walkways, magnificent artwork hangs from the ceilings. When Dubai makes a statement it does so boldly and without mercy. This is what I love about Dubai, it is so proudly extravagant and who does not love that from time to time? Fashion Avenue did manage to get my undivided attention today, and it is with regret (or not) that I did not manage to spend a little more time exploring other areas.

For Lunch, I dined at Madeleines, a French restaurant with a large terrace that overlooks the Dubai Fountains. I have seen the fountains before but I must say I still found them mesmerising today. For anyone visiting, I would recommend doing this at night as the display just feels more incredible. The Burj Khalifa lights up as the fountain dances and the whole spectacle makes the hair stand on end.

I am now on the Yacht enjoying the sun before I have to get ready for the Evening. I shall be attending the Chanel Little Black Jacket exhibition as I did not manage to attend in London or Paris and then I shall be attending a large reception with The Earl and two hundred guests.

Tomorrow is the Wedding Day which shall last all day and night. Please check back with me on Tuesday to read Part Three,

Yours,

It is good to be back!

For the last five days I have been suffering from Flu, perhaps one of the most energy zapping minor illnesses one can endure. I have been confined to my boudoir not able to lift a finger with even my fingernails and hair hurting! Yesterday however, I began to feel much better so decided that today I would leave my bed (finally), have my hairdresser round to give my greasy mane a fabulous blow dry and get back to my life. When you are ill it is only then that one realises the luxury of being able to live one’s day to day life feeling well, mobile and able. It makes one realise how terrible it must be for the millions out there who suffer daily with more serious illnesses and disabilities; I truly admire these very people. For those of you who have missed me during my absence, sincere apologies and please be ready for lots of new posts and articles.

Duchess of Cambridge wears Mulberry Coat suggested by The Countess

Last week I published an article, Coats for the Countess, which highlighted my favourite coats for Spring/Summer. Today the Duchess of Cambridge carried out an official engagement wearing the mint green Mulberry Coat thats was favorited by yours truly! The Duchess looked incredibly chic for the occasion and for the first time, her baby bump was visible. Now I don’t really know of course whether the coat was inspired by oneself, but what a delightful thought that is!

Greetings from The Countess

Hello and sincere thanks for visiting me here today on Countess Undercover, my first ever blog! Let me begin by giving you a brief background of my life and why I decided to share it publicly online.

I was born in Oxfordshire, England in 1981. My Mother gave birth to me at our family home which has been the seat of my ancestors since the 17th Century. My Fathers family can be traced back even further than this and as he is an Earl, I was born a Lady. I attended University in England and met my future husband who also comes from an aristocratic family. In 2007 we married and in 2010 his Father (also an Earl) sadly passed away which meant we inherited his title and Hertfordshire Estate. Before we go any further, let me apologise for being so vague about the intimacies of my life; It is not my desire to reveal my identity, therefore I cannot present too much detail.

I decided to write this blog as I have noticed the surge in interest from the general public of aristocratic families and the way we live. The phenomenal success of Downton Abbey, further proves my point that the World is very much interested in the lives of the Aristocracy. I also thought it would be rather innovative for me to use the blog as place for me to record the events of my life for personal reasons. My ancestors wrote letters and diaries almost every day which meant that their descendants could uncover details of their lives and give an insight to their past. Unfortunately today hardly anyone writes letters or diaries, instead choosing more up to date methods such as emails and social media platforms.

Being a Countess means I am able to live a life far different from the average person. To be able to share my experiences with you all is truly exciting. I am a slave to Fashion so this will also be an opportunity to indulge in my passion and share it with the online community.

As time goes by, this blog will most likely venture off course and become something entirely different to what I intended. I hope that it will become a hub of various topics and discussions and a place that people truly find interesting.

Yours,

The Countess x
